Here is the story of Cock Sparrer narrated by the band's drummer, Steve Bruce . The book is very good and there are a lot of photos, although perhaps "small" sometimes being too much an autobiography of the author rather than the band itself (obviously, is your point of view). Therefore, these personal memoirs beginning with the childhood that was Steve the school, family and, of course, his interest in music and the band's formation. De Cock Sparrow finally became known as "Sparrer" after hearing about Slade singles. They are the first difficult days of the band, the overnight, came to be regarded as a punk band, label the other party with whom they found very comfortable despite playing well, dress well and make the same as they always did. The famous "story" about Malcolm McLaren hardly deserves a small paragraph. The manager of the Sex Pistols came to trial, he saw, made a comment not very positive and left. The band never really know what his intentions were ... Cock Sparrer had already published a couple of singles with the label Decca and anxiously awaited an album that ultimately failed. This company had released the first LP Slaughter and The Dogs but dismissed the material that had Sparrer engraving find optimal not, immediately afterwards, throw them seal (although this LP at the end appear "strange" in the year 78 only as a English edition.) This was a blow to the group that decides to go on holiday to the USA to forget everything (Failed to perform there). Long ago that a group of neighborhood kids called The Poplar Boys followed them and this gave them some fame of rough by fights that always rode in the proceedings. According to the author, Communists thought they were Nazis and the Nazis were communists ... There is the odd situation more told about these issues but much higher. It is also reflected the "famous concert hall Astoria in London with The Adicts but without going too much into detail (all happened to the Adicts them playing and backstage), and without mentioning the word Nazi. Controversy aside, the following chapters go into more on a personal (weddings, the pub ran Steve , etc.) to the output of Guilty as charged and the start of European tour (this period is not explained such detail as the beginning). The second part of the work is a tour-diary of some performances and tours of Cock Sparrer recent years in America and Europe, with many pictures of them together with other stories (flyers, articles zines, etc), and recovering a very good interview rescued from Maximun Rocknroll Fanzine. The concert Oktober Fest 2010 at the Salt leaves Mirona review (with the problems there too), but I miss the review of Holidays in the Sun 2000 in Bergara. Indeed, there is a picture of two very beautiful pages of what was the audience in Girona and I found my fronted the crowd ugly lol ... I knew them and listening to some tracks of his most glam, therefore, did not like much at first. Of course, when I heard the Shock Troops my opinion changed and a lot going for ... Although today Cock Sparrer are an eminence in the punk, I must say that until the second half of the 90 did not This boom around them.
